Introducing…RED the Book Drive!

Putting RED directly in the hands of the next generation of readers and writers around the world

"After Red I was not the same. Red rocked, gave joy, inspired, and healed. This book is a revolution."
—Justine Kayumba, 16, The Lower Eastside Girls Club

"I ELLE OH VEE EEE Red!!! Like sometimes, life feels like it's pointless, routine after routine. But when I read Red, I was excited to see who I would meet each day." —Cassandra Tran, 15, Louisiana

Welcome to RED the Book Drive! You're looking at a grassroots effort, in the truest spirit of RED, to accomplish the ultimate goal of its 58 brilliant authors and me—making sure it's in the hands of as many of the world's young readers and writers as possible. We want to inspire them to tell their stories (to hear ours live, see our upcoming tour dates) and to have the opportunity to do so, like we did, with publication in future versions of RED: girls, boys, international, city-by-city, fiction.

And we've heard from so many of you, wonderful you, asking how you can help. So we took matters into our own hands and set up a DIY international book drive, so that you can help by donating copies of RED directly and personally (here's how!). Even just one copy, as a few resourceful teachers in New Orleans taught me, can spread like wildfire through a classroom, an entire school, a community. Not bad for an $11.20 holiday gift, right?

But we're hardly doing it ourselves and are honored to announce RED's first charity partner organizations—NY, national, and international! Each and every one of them is doing amazing, world-bettering work, well worth getting to know.

If you're interested in donating one copy, three copies—ten copies and you're only at $112—you have the deepest thanks from us and from the next generation of great writers out there on the receiving end.

We'll be adding more partners through the holidays, so please drop me a line if there's a charity, school, library, or other organization that's dear to you and you think would be interested in receiving RED donations. I'm happy to reach out and put them on our list. Same if you're interested in making a larger book donation (more than 50 copies): I will personally match you with sponsoring an entire writing workshop (thank  you!) and arrange for an author discount and in-kind donation receipt.

Thank you,
Amy Goldwasser, RED editor
